Election Day is this coming Tuesday, Nov. 2nd!  Remind your Facebook friends to vote by clicking on the take action button to add a snazzy "I'm voting" sticker to your Facebook wall.

Dear

Can you believe it's nearly November already? And that Election Day is this coming Tuesday?  Time flies.  It seems like summer just ended, but now we're entering into the final stretch of the election season.  Believe or not, many folks are expected to forget that Tuesday is Election Day. So, we need your help getting the word out mom-to-mom that time has flown and that everyone should make sure they set aside a little time to vote before polls close this coming Tuesday, November 2nd.

*Check out this fun, unique way to share that you'll be voting with all your friends on Facebook--and to remind your friends to vote by the time polls close this Tuesday night while you're at it:

http://action.momsrising.org/go/460?akid=2367.1164475.Ni2AWi&t=4

How does it work?  If you're on Facebook, you can click the link above and show that you're voting by posting a picture of yourself with a virtual "I'm voting" sticker--and then invite your friends to do the same.  Your picture will be posted to your Facebook wall for all of your friends to see, making it a powerful reminder to vote.

It's super easy. Just follow the directions on the link. This is a fun way to send a serious message and get folks motivated. Times are tough, and families are hurting.  The 2010 midterm elections are important. In the coming months, Congress is poised to make decisions about whether or not to extend unemployment insurance benefits, whether to continue moving forward with new provisions which make it illegal for insurance companies to deny coverage for people with preexisting conditions, and whether we will invest in families struggling to make ends meet or instead spend massive amounts on tax breaks for the wealthy.

Our easy-to-use Facebook application can add an "I'm voting" sticker on a photo of you, post this picture to your Facebook wall, and invite your friends to do the same if you so choose.  Together, we can reach a lot of people. The average Facebook user has 130 friends.  If even a few of your friends follow your lead and remind their Facebook friends to vote by putting a virtual "I'm voting" sticker to a picture, and a few of their friends follow suit, then your quick action could result in thousands of people being reminded to vote.

You can make a critical difference in getting out the vote!

Don't forget to share that you're voting--and remind your friends to vote--by showing off your "I'm voting" sticker on Facebook now:

Dear

Do you want to help save progressives on Tuesday? And do you have about 20 seconds to spare? Then please share our new video on Facebook.
It's short, really funny, and most important, designed to urge your friends to get out and vote on Tuesday. Can you take a second to post it to Facebook right now? Click here:
Studies show that this kind of social "nudging" is one of the most effective ways to get people out to vote. This video is a great way to deliver that nudge—plus, it's really fun.

Thanks.

Subject: Spook Congress for America's Families!
If Congress does not renew unemployment benefits by November 30th, begining this holiday season an estimated 1.2 million workers PER MONTH will be cut off.
Vote this coming Tuesday, November 2nd and sign a petition to Congress RIGHT NOW urging them to extend unemployment benefits!
Take Action

Dear ,

That bone chilling, pit of fear in your stomach feeling.  Could it be Halloween?  Or possibly, could it be the very scary job market?  Currently more than one in six working age adults - or 26.8 million people - are either unemployed or underemployed.  And it's tough to find a job when there’s only one job opening for every five unemployed workers.[1]
Now, something even more frightening is happening, federal unemployment programs that are currently keeping so many families afloat are set to expire on November 30th.
But do we have to sit helplessly quaking in our boots?  No!
We've got the power of our vote and the power of our voice.  Vote this coming Tuesday, November 2nd and sign a petition to Congress RIGHT NOW urging them to make extending unemployment benefits their first order of business when they return in November.
http://action.momsrising
What's happening?  A temporary program of federal jobless benefits, called Emergency Unemployment Compensation, was created in July 2008 to address the needs of the growing ranks of workers who have lost jobs in this recession.  If Congress does not renew the program by November 30th, an estimated 1.2 million workers PER MONTH will be cut off of federal unemployment benefits beginning this holiday season.[2]
This would be a catastrophe for the millions of families struggling to find work.
As Oklahoma MomsRising member Brittany writes,

"My husband lost his job when he was laid off along with my best friend's husband and my mother. At the time I was pregnant with our first child and, it scares me to think of what the stress of having nothing but my paycheck to support us would have done to my unborn son. Having unemployment insurance was what got us through the roughest times."
Not only do unemployment insurance benefits help families struggling with job loss, they also provide an essential boost to our economy.  When families have the resources they need to stay afloat, banks receive mortgage payments, utility bills are paid, and grocery stores in hard hit communities still have customers.  These businesses then also help our economy by buying supplies and paying employees, who in turn, spend their incomes elsewhere in the economy.  It is estimated that each dollar spent on unemployment insurance generates an additional $1.61 of economic activity.  This economic activity is critical to the full recovery of our economy. [3]
Tell Congress to boost America's economy and support our children and families by extending unemployment benefits in November.
http://action.momsrising.
Please forward this message on to friends and families and also remind them to vote this coming Tuesday, November 2nd!
Thank you for your work on behalf of America's families.  Together, we have the power to spook Congress into action this Halloween season

Another Letter From George Soros To Your Child's Teacher - Sent Today

To:
Subject: I'm calling--will you join me?

Dear MoveOn member,
My name is Bob Webb, and I'm a MoveOn member in Michigan.
This election is so important that I decided that each day before the election I would make at least 100 phone calls to recruit volunteers for the most important races in the country.
It takes a lot of time, and honestly it helps that I'm retired. And a lot of nights I eat pizza for dinner by the phone! But considering the extreme corporate Republicans who'll be running Congress if we don't step up—I figure I can afford to eat dinner by the phone for a couple weeks.
MoveOn's online calling system makes it so easy that anyone can do it, and the MoveOn members are so nice and fun to talk to. All you need is a phone and an Internet connection.
So will you join me and sign up to make calls from home? You don't have to make 100 calls a day—every little bit helps. But if we're going to stop the Republican takeover, we need everyone to pitch in at least a little bit. Click here to sign up:
Thanks for all you do.
–Bob Webb in Michigan

A note from the MoveOn staff: Late Monday night, we got a call informing us that Lauren Valle, a MoveOn supporter, was attacked by campaign volunteers for Rand Paul, the Republican Senate candidate in Kentucky. The video is pretty awful: Three men threw Lauren to the ground, held her down, and stomped on her head and neck. She ended up in the hospital with a concussion. She's still recovering, but she's already speaking out about what happened—and pressing charges against her attackers, at least one of whom is so unrepentant he just demanded an apology from Lauren.
This is upsetting and outrageous and fundamentally anti-democratic. What's worse, it's part of a growing pattern of right-wing violence and intimidation, fueled by violent rhetoric from Glenn Beck, Sarah Palin, Sharron Angle, and others.
Here's the thing, folks: we can't let this intimidate us or derail us (which is the intent, after all). Instead, let's work even harder over the next week to defeat the candidates who are stirring up hate. Lauren's not stopping, and we won't either.
If you want to make a contribution in Lauren's name to support Jack Conway (the MoveOn-endorsed Democrat she was trying to help when she was attacked), click here:

George Soros Wants to Drug Our Kids

The billionaire George Soros is speaking out in favor of legalizing the marijuana industry.

The financier laid out his arguments for backing California’s Proposition 19, which would legalize the recreational use and small-scale cultivation of marijuana, in an opinion piece in The Wall Street Journal.

Aside from the usual arguments for backing legalization — tax revenue for the federal government, regulation of a corrupt industry, reduction in violent crime — Mr. Soros also argued that the motivation for criminalizing marijuana was rooted in racism:

Racial prejudice also helps explain the origins of marijuana prohibition. When California and other U.S. states first decided (between 1915 and 1933) to criminalize marijuana, the principal motivations were not grounded in science or public health but rather in prejudice and discrimination against immigrants from Mexico who reputedly smoked the “killer weed.”
And it seems Mr. Soros has put his money where his mouth is on this issue: the financier has invested $3 million in the medical marijuana initiative and two other measures, according to The Los Angeles Times. While he has not yet donated to support Proposition 19, Michael Vachon, an adviser to Mr Soros, told the newspaper that “he plans to make a significant contribution.”

Our final ad features local MoveOn members taking on the oil billionaires and
corporate front groups. Please take a look, and chip in $5 to help get it on the
air.

Dear MoveOn member,

You have to check out this amazing ad that MoveOn members like you made in
Illinois, the closest Senate race in the country.

The ad features local progressives, directly taking on the oil billionaires and
corporate front groups that are spending millions to take Barack Obama's old
Senate seat. We're running ads like this one in key races across the
country—each time featuring local MoveOn members from the state or district.

The race in Illinois is a dead heat—and an ad like this which exposes the shady
groups supporting the Republican candidate could make all the difference. But
only if enough voters see it. Can you please chip in to make sure we reach
everyone we can with this message? We need to raise an additional $200,000 to
get it on the air around the nation.

Click here to see the ad and chip in $5:

There are only 10 days left before the election, so this is our final
advertising effort to affect the outcome. If you haven't donated yet, this is
your last chance.

And this ad will break through. For people overwhelmed by negative ads from
mysterious, ominous front groups, a simple, positive, people-driven ad like this
can make a big impact. In the close races in which we're airing it, it could
mean the difference between victory and defeat.

We'd like to run it in 28 key districts and states. But doing that will cost an
additional $200,000. And since MoveOn doesn't have any corporate benefactors,
it'll only happen if we all chip in. Can you check out the ad and give $5 today?

Thanks for your help, and for all you do.

RepubliCorp prefers to operate in secrecy. So we decided to do a little public relations for them. We created this website, http://www.moveon.org/r?r=92739&id=24528-16589519-BhiC3Jx&t=1, and this spiffy promotional video.

Subject: Stand up for my son, Wesley. Say NO to going back to pre-existing condition exclusions!

Vote on or by November 2nd and send a letter NOW to tell Congressional and state leaders to move forward on health reform implementation.

Take Action

Dear
"Everything is covered. Your family is fully covered." I could hardly believe it. My son Wesley has an eye condition called strabismus, and I'd been worried because we already had one insurer drop us and another exclude Wesley's condition from coverage. Then, as the new patient protections under health reform began to take effect, we finally had the option of buying affordable health insurance without any exclusions for pre-existing conditions for Wesley.

My name is Dawn Josephson, and I'm a MomsRising member from Florida. Ensuring the success of health reform is close to my heart--and I have to say that I'm concerned because I'm hearing some candidates for office talk about repealing or blocking health reform if elected. I know from personal experience that this would be devastating for my family and for so many other families across America.

*Tell all your friends to vote on or by Tuesday, November 2nd, AND also to sign this letter to Congress and state legislators demanding that Congressional and state leaders must continue moving forward on implementing health reform--and not take us back to the bad old days when insurers could drop us just when we got sick, exclude our children from coverage because they have pre- existing conditions, or put lifetime caps on our

Why is ensuring the success of health reform close to my heart? Because the provisions of health reform that went into effect on September 23rd this year have already have helped my family immensely.

You see, I'm a self-employed entrepreneur and supply my own health insurance. In July of 2009, my four-year-old son Wesley needed eye surgery to correct a problem called strabismus. Shortly after his surgery, the company we were insured through dropped us, so we had to get new insurance. The new plan, which was very expensive, excluded any treatment related to Wesley's eye. By June of 2010, we couldn't handle the premiums anymore, so we began searching for a new plan.

The new plan we enrolled in is an individual plan and is one of the company's newly created "affordable options." When the insurance company representative called me and said that everything went through underwriting and we were fully covered, I said, "Okay, but..."

"But what?" she asked.

"But what's not covered?" I asked.

"Everything is covered," she replied.

Feeling that I wasn't making myself clear, I pointedly asked her, "What about my son and his eye condition? If he needs another surgery (which most kids do need more than one surgery to fully correct the problem), is it covered?"

"Yes," she said. "Your family is fully covered.

I couldn't believe it. She then said, "We no longer exclude pre-existing conditions in children."

It didn't hit me until later that evening what had happened. Legislation from Washington, D.C. had personally affected my family — and in a good way!  While I know I somehow feel the effects of Washington's laws and rules on a regular basis, I never felt it hit home like this. I was both happy and shocked.

Everyone has something in their medical history. Whether that something is small — like strabismus — or big — like hemophilia — it's a fact of life that we all get sick at some point. And when insurance companies can use any bit of information as a reason to deny coverage and hike up premiums, they'll do so unless someone steps in to stop it.

*That's why today I'm urging you to join me in voting on or by Tuesday, November 2nd and signing this letter to Congress and state legislators to demand that our federal and state leaders move us forward on implementing health reform.

MomsRising will be delivering these letters, both now as elected leaders are closely listening to what their constituents are saying in the run up to the elections, as well as after the elections.

Thank you for fighting for all America's families!

Soros-Funded Documentary Embraces Left-Wing Terrorists Who Plotted To Kill Republicans
by Matthew Vadum
Radical philanthropist George Soros is bankrolling a documentary that celebrates left-wing terrorists who plotted to napalm Republicans at the 2008 GOP convention in Minnesota. Even worse, you too are bankrolling the film through your taxes.
You can be sure that if right-wing terrorists were plotting to attack the Democratic National Convention, whoever foiled that conspiracy would be immortalized in film, literature and song as a savior of democracy.

“If you flip the equation around and it had been a group of conservatives threatening to use force to prevent those on the Left from meeting, everyone would expect the government to infiltrate them and they would also expect the FBI to stop them and charge them with crimes,” said Brandon Darby, who helped the FBI thwart the planned attack.
A trailer for the left-wing film Better This World suggests that it depicts David Guy McKay and Bradley Neil Crowder as idealistic activists who, according to the official blurb, “set out to prove the strength of their political convictions to themselves and their mentor.” (Note: There was a functioning trailer when I wrote this post a few days ago, but it no longer appears to be working. -MV) In fact McKay and Crowder are convicted domestic terrorists who manufactured instruments of death calculated to inflict maximum pain and bodily harm on people whose political views they disagreed with.
The movie attacks a true American hero, Brandon Darby, who undermined the conspiracy by alerting the FBI. Filmmakers Katie Galloway and Kelly Duane de la Vega twist the facts to argue that Darby, a former revolutionary activist, manipulated McKay and Crowder into becoming would-be mass murderers.
It’s an easily disproved lie.
During sentencing, U.S. District Judge Michael Davis went out of his way to make a specific legal finding that McKay obstructed justice by falsely accusing Darby of inducing him to manufacture the incendiary devices.
McKay and Crowder had made homemade riot shields and were ready to use them in St. Paul to help demonstrators block streets near the Xcel Energy Center. The goal was to shut down the democratic process by preventing GOP delegates from participating in the convention. The shields were discovered and confiscated.
During a search of a St. Paul residence, police found gas masks, slingshots, helmets, knee pads and eight Molotov cocktails consisting of bottles filled with gasoline with attached wicks made from tampons. “They mixed gasoline with oil so it would stick to clothing and skin and burn longer,” Darby said.

George Soros Has Juan Williams From Fox News and NPR Fired Over Politically Incorrect Statement

by: Keith Brock
October 19, 2010

NPR has received a $1.8 million grant from the Open Society Foundations to begin a project called Impact of Government that is intended to add at least 100 journalists at NPR member radio stations in all 50 states over the next three years.
The reporters, editors and analysts will cover state governments and how their actions affect people.
The project “creates capacity for local stations to hire reporters and to cover issues that matter that other places aren’t doing,” said Vivian Schiller, NPR’s president and chief executive. “Everything that we’re doing as relates to member stations comes down to two things: building local news capacity and making sure the content we create is available to all people across all platforms.”
Ms. Schiller said the journalists would not be part of typical statehouse coverage, but instead would work on enterprise journalism that looks at how state government decisions play out over years, and extend beyond a single state’s borders.
The program, one of a number of new public media reporting projects meant to counter some of the cutbacks in profit-making journalism, will begin with an eight-state pilot phase in March 2011. Eventually, NPR and local stations hope to raise about $17 million to expand the program, and $18 million to $19 million annually to sustain it, said Ron Schiller, president of the NPR Foundation and NPR’s senior vice president for development (and no relation to Ms. Schiller.)
The project is also intended to help the public radio network raise more money. Although NPR stations attract millions of small donors, and NPR itself received a $230 million grant from the Joan B. Kroc estate in 2003, NPR and its stations want to attract more major philanthropists, Mr. Schiller said.
Then, Wednesday evening the opening salvo of what is war on Fox News.
NPR has terminated its contract with Juan Williams, one of its senior news analysts, after he made comments about Muslims on the Fox News Channel.
NPR said in a statement that it gave Mr. Williams notice of his termination on Wednesday night.
The move came after Mr. Williams, who is also a Fox News political analyst, appeared on the “The O’Reilly Factor” on Monday. On the show, the host, Bill O’Reilly, asked him to respond to the notion that the United States was facing a “Muslim dilemma.” Mr. O’Reilly said, “The cold truth is that in the world today jihad, aided and abetted by some Muslim nations, is the biggest threat on the planet.”
Mr. Williams said he concurred with Mr. O’Reilly.
He continued: “I mean, look, Bill, I’m not a bigot. You know the kind of books I’ve written about the civil rights movement in this country. But when I get on the plane, I got to tell you, if I see people who are in Muslim garb and I think, you know, they are identifying themselves first and foremost as Muslims, I get worried. I get nervous.”
Mr. Williams also made reference to the Pakistani immigrant who pleaded guilty this month to trying to plant a car bomb in Times Square. “He said the war with Muslims, America’s war is just beginning, first drop of blood. I don’t think there’s any way to get away from these facts,” Mr. Williams said.
NPR said in its statement that the remarks “were inconsistent with our editorial standards and practices, and undermined his credibility as a news analyst with NPR.”

NPR is now the mouthpiece of George Soros and they did NOT want to get on his bad side.  The comments by Juan Williams were what most of us feel when going on a flight with Muslims in full Muslim garb.  They do make us nervous.  Of course, it's OK for another reporter to wish Rush Limbaugh death, but for Juan to express his personal concern - you're fired!
Juan:  Welcome to the real world.  NPR threw you under the bus and you have no idea who was pulling the strings?  On thing now apparent, they lead to King George, as in George Soros.
Who can trust NPR now?  Only the progressives, their's and Soros's mouthpiece.

MoveOn.org Needs Money From Teachers Union Members To Push More Crooks Into Our Government

Subject: Can't let them lose

Dear MoveOn member,
There are just 13 days left until the election, and with many Democrats trailing in races across the country, Republicans are now within reach of taking over the Senate.
That means Democratic control of the Senate is likely to come down to just a handful of races, including these three which are basically tied but still very winnable:
  • Illinois—Alexi Giannoulias: Every poll in this race for two months has been tied. It's the closest Senate race in the country and Alexi is a real progressive fighter.
  • Washington—Patty Murray: Murray is the highest-ranking Democratic woman in the Senate. She's been narrowly ahead, but with lots of secret outside money attacking her, her seat is still at serious risk.
  • Colorado—Michael Bennet: Outside interests are spending $750,000 each day in the race, but Bennet has been gaining on his extreme right-wing opponent, and the polls are now showing a statistical dead heat.
If Republicans win these seats, they'll likely gain control of the Senate. And big corporations are flooding Illinois, Washington state, and Colorado with campaign cash—Karl Rove's organization alone has spent more than $5 million on these races in the last two weeks.1
These campaigns are about to make their final spending decisions, so this is the last chance to give. Can you chip in to these three key candidates?
Here's more about these three candidates in tight races who need our help right now:
We've added Alexi Giannoulias to our Progressive Heroes list because this race is so important, and because he's running a populist campaign focused on taking on the corporate special interests and cleaning up Washington, D.C.
Sen. Patty Murray supported the public option, fought for clean energy jobs, and has worked with other pro-choice Democratic women senators to eliminate egregious gender disparities in insurance coverage. Her Republican challenger significantly out-raised her in the last three months, and Murray needs our help to win.
Sen. Michael Bennet has been steadily closing in on his Republican opponent, Ken Buck, so the race is now a statistical dead heat. Bennet wants to create clean energy jobs for Colorado and improve access to health care.
Can you chip in to these candidates' campaigns and help stop the takeover?
Thanks for all you do.

Subject: Tell Congress: Protect Your Littlest Constituents!

Dear
Tuesday morning, my son decided he wants to be an astronaut-firefighter.
At three-years-old, three feet tall, and with a trusty teddy bear sidekick, he’s a boy on a mission, with a bear on a mission, and they’re ready to put out those pesky space fires.
My son has new dreams every week: Cowboy, farmer, magician, the list goes on. I'm also on a mission. I’m on a mission to help my son stay healthy by protecting him from contamination by toxic chemicals.
Can you chip in $5 today to help MomsRising amplify our voices so that we better protect our kids from toxic chemicals?
*Time is tight. With the Safe Chemicals Act (H 5820/ S 3209), an important update to the Toxic Substances Control Act of 1976 (TSCA), being considered by Congress, now's the time to urge Congress to protect their littlest constituents from toxic chemicals like hormone disrupters, neurotoxins, and carcinogens! We need Congress to know that the Safe Chemicals Act (H 5820/ S 3209) should be a top priority once Congress comes back from elections.
With your help, we've got big plans this fall to capture the attention of our elected leaders and change toxics legislation, including:
• Organizing local in-district meetings with moms in U.S. Senate offices across the country.
• Sending creative messages to Congress that are impossible to ignore
• Hosting a blog carnival for moms, dads, and grandparents, as well as bloggers, elected officials, and organizational leaders to get the word out about toxic chemical policy and solutions.
Why now?
It's an important time to make our voices heard. New legislation has been introduced in the House and Senate that would completely reform the Toxic Substances Control Act (TSCA) of 1976. Our current legislation lacks a requirement that chemicals be tested to assess their ability to disrupt hormones. The Safe Chemicals Act (H 5820/ S 3209) would require chemical manufacturers to provide basic health and safety information for all chemicals as a condition for staying in or entering the marketplace. It would also, for the first time, make that information public. [1]
Studies are showing that one of the many contributing factors to the rise in early puberty is that young children are exposed to dozens of potentially toxic chemicals on a daily basis. Endocrine disruptors, which are chemicals that mimic and interfere with hormones, show up in a wide variety of everyday items including: household cleaners, canned foods, and school supplies. These endocrine disruptors can cause the early onset of puberty in girls, as well as boys. [2]
Our children deserve better. That’s why as parents we need to be even louder! Can you donate $5 to help us get loud? As U.S. Senator Frank Lautenberg (D-NJ) recently said: “America’s system for regulating industrial chemicals is broken. Parents are afraid because hundreds of untested chemicals are found in their children’s bodies. Chemical safety reform is not a Democratic or Republican issue, it is a common-sense issue…” [1]
We’re focused on making a change in toxics legislation, and we're sending a clear message to Congress that it’s time to do what’s right for American families and make updating the Safe Chemicals Act (H 5820/ S 3209) a priority when Congress reconvenes.
Can you chip in $5 today to help us bring the voices of parents across the country directly to Congress?
Together we’re a powerful voice for children and families!

George Soros' Millions Buying 'Political Reporters' For NPR

By Warner Todd Huston
The left loves to go wild claiming that Ruppert Murdock, a famous conservative, owns a few news outlets. The left is also aghast that well-known righty Roger Ailes guides Fox News. Ailes's ideology makes of his network a compromised product, they claim. It's all a travesty of "news," and "proof" that those agencies are contaminated by right-wing ideology say lefty detractors. So, with the news that George Soros is buying one hundred political "reporters" for National Public Radio (NPR), one waits with bated breath for the left to decry the fact that a famous anti-American leftist is buying and influencing the "news."
One will likely wait in vain, too.
In fact, The New York Times doesn't even mention the left-wing ideology of the foundation that is supplying $1.8 million to NPR so it can hire political reporters across the country.
The left-wing Open Society Foundations is donating the large sum to NPR for a project being called "Impact of Government." The project is planning to add at least 100 reporters across the country to cover local state house politics to fill the holes left by the firing of so many local reporters due to the contraction in the field of journalism over the last decade.
One might look at this plan and imagine that it isn't such a bad idea. If states have lost reporters ready to hold local politicians accountable why is it so bad for $1.8 million to be spent to fill that gap? But in the NYT piece one can see why this donation should raise eyebrows instead of making folks feel at ease that the plan is merely helping fill a reporting gap.

Ms. Schiller said the journalists would not be part of typical statehouse coverage, but instead would work on enterprise journalism that looks at how state government decisions play out over years, and extend beyond a single state's borders.
What exactly does "enterprise journalism" mean? This sure smacks of agenda journalism as opposed to mere reporting, doesn't it? And even if that isn't the intent, the rhetoric here is suspicious.
But what makes this all even more suspicious is the source of the $1.8 million donation. The Open Society Foundations was founded by well-known anti-American George Soros. Yet, nowhere in the news is this made clear to readers.
One might recall the hullabaloo that was raised when it was revealed that News Corp, owner of Fox News, had donated one million dollars to Republicans for this election cycle. It was the end of the world as far as the left was concerned. It was "proof" that Fox could not be trusted.
Yet, here we have George Soros buying reporters for NPR, the same Soros who has an extremely left-wing agenda that he has been pushing on the world for decades. After all, if the assumption that conservatives owning Fox makes its news slanted, shouldn't the same logic dictate that anything Soros owns reflects his ideology? Shouldn't we assume that NPR's new reporters will be left-wing hacks bought and paid for by one of the richest, most active, most extreme left-wing activists in the world?
So what is the difference between a left-wing billionaire buying 100 reporters for NPR and Fox News being owned by conservative owners? Why has the Old Media establishment completely ignored the extremist agenda of the foundation making such a large donation to NPR? Why isn't NPR to be suspected of being a left-wing mouthpiece now?
The answer to this question can only be that the Old Media establishment is already bought and paid for by the far left and would never raise questions that might reflect badly on a left-wing agenda. Only conservatives need "outing" as far as the Old Media is concerned.
That George Soros owns NPR like this? Well, that's just a little secret between you and me.

Subject: We'd lose today

Dear MoveOn member,
If the election were held today, many Democrats would lose—badly.
But the election's not being held today. We've still got two weeks left. And many voters are tuning in for the first time—which means that right now is the key moment to get out and talk to them.
We have a plan to recruit the volunteer army needed to reach those voters, but we need more people in your area today. Our online calling tool allows anyone, anywhere in the country to call other MoveOn members from home and recruit volunteers for the key races that will decide control of Congress next year. Can you help out?
Thanks for all you do.

"I challenge the Chamber of Commerce to tell us how much of the money they're investing is from foreign sources. I challenge them, if I'm wrong I will stand corrected. But show me, show me."

"You arrogant ass! You've killed us!"
-- The Hunt for Red October
Shall we play a game?
The line, spoken in an eerie mechanized voice, comes from the movie War Games, starring Matthew Broderick as he does battle with an out-of-control computer bent on blowing up the world. Broderick responds by saying, "Love to! How about Global Thermonuclear War?"
We're not into Global Thermonuclear War here. But a game of follow the Secret Donor Money -- an incredibly dishonest game that they will doubtless regret beginning -- has been launched by this White House, the New York Times and their liberal allies. Charges of foreign money, improper influence and secret donors fill the air. The Times has even seen fit to trot out Richard Nixon and Spiro Agnew!
So. Shall we play their Secret Donor Money game? Love to? Excellent.
Let's begin with questions.
• What if Secret Donor Money -- funneled through a 501(c)(3) tax exempt non-profit with no obligation to reveal its donors -- was used to influence not just your run-of-the mill election, but a sitting United States Senator as he ran a Senate confirmation hearing of a federal judge? An official constitutional duty of the United States Senate?
• What if that United States Senator secretly influenced by that Secret Donor Money were named Russell Feingold, Democrat of Wisconsin?
• What if that Secret Donor Money was used to supply Secret Research Senator Feingold was secretly using to defeat that Bush nominee for the federal judiciary? And what if Senator Feingold repeatedly and secretly (so he thought) plagiarized his questions to the nominee -- from the secret document purchased by Secret Donor Money secretly supplied by those Secret Donors?

Dear MoveOn member,
Have you seen this video that's being passed around?
It's a message from Joel Burns, a Fort Worth city councilman, promising gay teens who are considering suicide that life does get better. And it's a powerful reminder of what we as progressives fight for—equality, justice, and a compassionate country, where neighbors help one another.
It's worth watching—as a wake-up call, as a testament to the values that we share, and as an example of truly courageous leadership. Please check it out and pass it on.

The Latest Threats From the Left Via George Soros and MoveOn.org

Sent: Sunday, October 17, 2010 11:06 AM
Subject: Biggest weekend of action yet

Time is running out to save our heroes and help dozens of other brave Democrats
win on November 2nd. So we're mobilizing for our biggest weekend of action yet
this year. Can you host a "Save our Heroes" call party in your city on Oct. 23rd
or 24th?

[http://s3.moveon.org/images/with_dims/buttons/button_red_host2_150x36.gif]%3Chttp://pol.moveon.org/event/events/create.html?action_id=227&id=24307-16589519-EnMPWlx&t=1>
Host a party<http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/create.html?action_id=227&id=24307-16589519-EnMPWlx&t=2>

Dear Member,

Russ Feingold, Barbara Boxer, Alan Grayson, Tom Perriello, and other progressive
leaders have a Republican bull's-eye on their backs this election year. And
polls show many bold progressives are in real danger of losing in
November—unless we all step up right away to save them.1

In short: Our heroes are in trouble—can you host a party next weekend to help
them<http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/create.html?action_id=227&id=24307-16589519-EnMPWlx&t=3>?

These are heroes like Sen. Feingold, who stood alone in voting against the
PATRIOT Act just days after 9/11, and Sen. Boxer, a leader on climate change and
protecting a woman's right to choose. And like Rep. Perriello, who stood tall
against Big Insurance during the health care debate, and Rep. Grayson, a
populist hero who's never afraid to call out the pernicious corporate influence
in Washington.

Without them in Congress, it'll be easier for Republicans and their corporate
allies to steamroll awful legislation—because often what it takes is the
leadership of a brave and bold progressive to stop the madness.

We simply can't let them lose on November 2nd. So we're gearing up for the
biggest weekend of action yet this election year: "Save our Heroes" house
parties next weekend. We'll recruit volunteers to help get out the vote for our
heroes and dozens of other Democrats nationwide. These campaigns urgently need
help to reach all their targeted voters, so we've set an ambitious goal of 500
parties and 150,000 recruitment calls. We'll need everyone to pitch in to meet
that goal!

Can you sign up to host a Save our Heroes call party in your city on Oct. 23rd
or 24th? Click here to sign up:

http://pol.moveon.org/event/events/create.html?action_id=227&id=24307-16589519-EnMPWlx&t=4

We'll have help making these parties really special directly from some of our
heroes—like Alexi Giannoulias, a 34-year-old progressive champion running for
President Obama's former Illinois Senate seat. Giannoulias, who's in the closest
Senate race of the year, will connect to the parties live for a conference call
Saturday at 6 p.m. eastern. So we're encouraging everyone who can to have their
parties then. (Of course, if you can't, you should still plan a party—we'll
share a recording of the call.)

Hosting is simple, but so important. By hosting, you're giving other
progressives in the area a place to come together to take action, multiplying
your own impact and helping stop the takeover.

Here's how it works:

*   You choose a location—your house, a friend's, a room at a local community
center—for people to hang out and make calls. Then we'll email other MoveOn
members nearby to invite them—and you can invite your friends, too, of course.
*   We'll send you info on how to join the call with Alexi Giannoulias on
Saturday, or how to listen to the recording if your party is at another time.
And stay tuned—we'll have more news on other progressive heroes' participation
coming soon.
*   We'll send you instructions on how to get lists of who to call, a script
for what to say on the phone, and all the info you need. And on the day of your
party, we have live volunteer support via phone or email.

This will be our biggest weekend of action yet—if we all pitch in. Can you host
a party in your city? Click here:
