XXXX, support from MoveOn members like you has created a remarkable opportunity, helping force recall elections of six tea party Republicans who led the crusade against teachers and public workers. We have just a few weeks to ramp up a huge get-out-the-vote effort and win. Now, we urgently need your help to close the deal and win this fight for good—can you chip in $5 right away?
Contribute Now
Dear MoveOn member,
Breaking news—we've now got a chance to beat six Wisconsin Republicans facing recall elections after helping force through infamous legislation taking away bargaining rights from teachers and other public workers. If we win, that would end Gov. Scott Walker's right-wing crusade.
This election is a huge opportunity to turn the tide against tea party Republicans and their attacks on the middle class. But in a last-minute election like this, whoever can mobilize the most voters will win—so we've got to get to work.
We've got an ambitious plan to get thousands more voters to the polls in Wisconsin, taking the technology and organizing tools that we used to help elect Barack Obama and applying them for the first time ever to a state-level election.
MoveOn members contributed $1 million to the huge effort to force these recall elections, and worked tirelessly on the ground. "It's a huge victory that we succeeded in getting six recall elections, but now we need ALL MoveOn members around the country to help us actually win the races and unseat Walker's majority," says MoveOn member Steve Hughes of Madison.
But with just six weeks to go, we've got to raise $185,000 to get moving on this plan immediately.
Can you chip in $5 to help us mobilize voters to the polls in Wisconsin and stop the tea party Republicans in their tracks?
If we win, we may even be able to reverse the anti-collective-bargaining law: A judge blocked the law last week, but Gov. Walker may try to pass it again. If progressives win three seats in the state senate, we can stop it. Furthermore, Republican governors and state legislators across the country are watching what happens in Wisconsin very closely, as are party leaders in Washington, D.C.
Since special elections like these always have very low turnout, whichever side can get people to the polls will have the upper hand. So we've put together an aggressive plan to get thousands more Democrats to the polls in each of these districts. Here's just some of what we'll do:
Use our proven member-to-member calling system to mobilize thousands of MoveOn members in Wisconsin.
Test a half-dozen different ways of using mobile phones and other new technologies to mobilize voters and get progressives out to vote on Election Day.
Test an exciting new method for MoveOn members to most effectively find and persuade swing voters, using existing social networks.
The state election oversight board announced yesterday that all the recall elections filed against Republicans will proceed, while all the retaliatory recalls Republicans filed against Democrats are mired in allegations of signature fraud.
These recall elections of right-wing Republicans could send shock waves through the nation, and a clear message: Voters won't stand for the extreme Republican attempts to trample on workers' rights.
But to send that message, we need to win these elections. Can you contribute now to help get out the vote in Wisconsin?

Thanks for all you do.

George Soros and MoveOn Attack the People of Wisconsin Over it's Attempts to Curb Out of Control Spending - More Emails to Your Kids Teachers for Money

Subject: BREAKING: Republicans jam through bill in Wisconsin

Wisconsin Republicans just used the nuclear option to jam through their anti-worker bill. We can't let them get away with it. Can you help raise $500,000 tonight to recall the Republican senators who did this by donating $5 to the Democratic Party of Wisconsin via ActBlue?

Dear MoveOn member,
Minutes ago, Wisconsin Republicans made a shocking power grab—ramming through their partisan attack on workers' rights without a single Democrat present.
It's shameful, unprecedented, and probably illegal. We can't let them get away with this.
We have to recall the Republican state senators who did this.
Progressives in Wisconsin have already gathered thousands of signatures to do just that, but they need our help to get the job done. Let's send a clear message that trying to destroy the American Dream is a surefire way to get booted from office.
Can you help raise $500,000 tonight for the recall efforts, to make sure these senators lose their seats over their outrageous actions?
Click here to chip in $5 via ActBlue
What happened?
With the Wisconsin 14 out of state for weeks, Republicans have been unable to jam through Governor Walker's bill taking away union rights from public workers.
But tonight, the Republicans decided to use the nuclear option. After modestly changing the Governor's budget bill, they "declared" that it was a different kind of bill that they could pass without the Democrats and passed it—all in a half-hour.1
Thousands of Wisconsinites have already flooded the capitol and will occupy it overnight. And Wisconsin Democrats are already exploring legal challenges to stop the law. But it's up to the rest of us to make sure that these senators pay a heavy price for their actions, so everyone gets the message: Attack workers and middle class families, and there will be consequences.
Help raise $500,000 tonight to send these Republicans packing:

Subject: Immoral

Dear MoveOn member,

It's time to sound the alarm.

This week, Congress could cut a deal on the budget. And if Republicans get their way, billions will be cut from vital programs that millions of Americans count on—while tax cuts for the richest are protected.

But most people don't have any idea what's at stake—and how devastating these cuts would be to their communities—even though the cuts could take effect within weeks. So we're launching an emergency campaign to spread the word. Republicans want to gut programs with enormous public support, and hope no one notices. So it's up to all of us to spark a public outcry before it's too late.

The devastating impact these cuts will have on our country—and on your community—is unprecedented. Check out the list below. If we can get it out to a million people, we can start to sound the alarm and stop the GOP. Click here to post on Facebook and Twitter, or simply forward this email.
Thanks for all you do.

Top 10 Worst Things about the Republicans' Immoral Budget

The Republican budget would:

1. Destroy 700,000 jobs, according to an independent economic analysis.

2. Zero out federal funding for National Public Radio and public television.
3. Cut $1.3 billion from community health centers—which will deprive more than 3 million low-income people of health care over the next few months.

4. Cut nearly a billion dollars in food and health care assistance to pregnant women, new moms, and children.

5. Kick more than 200,000 children out of pre-school by cutting funds for Head Start.

6. Force states to fire 65,000 teachers and aides, dramatically increasing class sizes, thanks to education cuts.

7. Cut some or all financial aid for 9.4 million low- and middle-income college students.

8. Slash $1.6 billion from the National Institutes of Health, a cut that experts say would "send shockwaves" through cancer research, likely result in cuts to Alzheimer's and Parkinson's research, and cause job losses.

9. End the only federal family planning program, including cutting all federal funding that goes to Planned Parenthood to support cancer screenings and other women's health care.

10. Send 10,000 low-income veterans into homelessness by cutting in half the number of veterans who get housing vouchers this year.

We've got to get the word out about this awful budget—right away. Please, share this with your friends on Facebook and Twitter, or by forwarding this email, today.

New Green George Soros Hedge Fund is Run By Former Obama Czar

George Soros -- whom we're always told is not serving his own economic interests at all by promoting liberal politicians and big-government policies -- is launching a new investment fund, that plans to profit off of the "green energy" boom, which is entirely dependent on government subsidies.
As the press release puts it, this fund will "leverage technology and business model innovation to improve energy efficiency, reduce waste and emissions, harness renewable energy, and more efficiently use natural resources, among other applications." As Soros puts it in the same release: “Developing alternative sources of energy and achieving greater energy efficiency is both a significant global investment opportunity and an environmental imperative.” Cadie Thompson at CNBC's NetNet flagged this.
So, yeah. The big-government policies advanced by the liberal outfits he funds -- like Center for American Progress -- will enrich the companies in which Soros is investing.
But this story gets better.
The press release casually mentions whom Soros is hiring to run this new fund: Cathy Zoi. As Cadie Thompson at CNBC's NetNet (edited by my brother John Carney), puts it,
Zoi was Barack Obama's "Acting Under Secretary for Energy and Assistant Secretary for Energy Efficiency and Renewable Energy." An Al Gore acolyte, Zoi was Obama's point-woman on subsidizing green tech. Now she's going to work for George Soros to profit off of subsidized green tech.
If you remember Zoi's name, it's because of another green-tech conflict of interest: Zoi's husband is an executive at a window company, Serious Windows, which the White House regularly held up as a "poster child of green industry."
The Freedom Foundation of Minnesota put it this way:
"Ms. Zoi is married to Robin Roy, a top executive at Serious Materials, a privately held manufacturer of 'sustainable green building materials' located in California. On the Executive Branch Personnel Public Financial Disclosure submitted by Ms. Zoi to the White House Ethics office as part of her confirmation, Ms. Zoi disclosed ownership with her spouse of 120,000 vested and unvested stock options in Serious Materials, a company her office regulates and that she may profit from."
Oh yeah, Serious Materials pocketed federal stimulus money, too.
But as NetNet's Thompson puts it:
But we can put all that behind us, because now Zoi has left the Obama Administration and will go back to work making an honest living in the private sector, where she can put all the knowledge she gained from working for the Department of Energy to work for the private equity firms. Thata girl Zoi!
